Rule

Rule
A Marked Men Novel
By: Jay Crownover
Published December 2012 by Jay Crownover books 327 pages

Summary via www.goodreads.com:Shaw Landon loved Rule Archer from the moment she laid eyes on him. Rule is everything a straight--A pre-med student like Shaw shouldn’t want--and the only person she’s never tried to please. She isn’t afraid of his scary piercings and tattoos or his wild attitude. Though she knows that Rule is wrong for her, her heart just won’t listen.

To a rebel like Rule Archer, Shaw Landon is a stuck-up, perfect princess-and his dead twin brother’s girl. She lives by other people’s rules; he makes his own. He doesn’t have time for a good girl like Shaw-even if she’s the only one who can see the person he truly is.

But a short skirt, too many birthday cocktails, and spilled secrets lead to a night neither can forget. Now, Shaw and Rule have to figure out how a girl like her and a guy like him are supposed to be together without destroying their love . . . or each other
My Review:

I was not sure what this book was all about. I had seen this in stores, but for some reason had it in my head that this was erotica and along the lines of 50 Shades of Gray. Something I am so far over... But at the library the other day, it caught my attention and I thought I'd take it home and give it a shot. It took me under 48 hours to read.

This book was really well written and it was very realistic. Shaw has been in love with Rule since she was 14. Both have had to suffer through the heart break of losing his twin brother and both have really dysfunctional family lives. This should just push them together, right? No. Shaw is the furthest thing from Rule's mind. In his mind, his twin brother and Shaw had something going on, so she is off limits. Everyone assumed she had had something going on with his brother. When in reality that couldn't be the farthest thing from the truth.

Rule is a 22 year old womanizer. He has issues so deep that he refuses to get close to anyone other than his friends. But eventually Shaw breaks those walls down and he discovers what it means to truly give your heart to someone and let them in.

I loved this book from start to finish. I am sad that it's over and that I won't get to read about Shaw and Rule anymore. Like I said, this relationship is pretty realistic. They've known each other since they were kids and have a foundation to build on. This was not really your run of the mill romance sort of book.

I can't wait to read the rest of the Marked Men series.

This book was easily 5 stars for me!
